Malaysia International Fashion Week 2007

M-IFW is here again! It will be held at KL Convention Centre from Nov 15 - Nov 18 2007. There will be showcase of some local designers/brands like Jonathan Cheng, Carven Ong, Tangoo, etc etc. I don't really like to go for event like this because those models are wearing some "unwearable" outfits for common people like us. Look at this:

OMG! Startrek by Key NG

How to wear la like this??!! But the are some designers worth checking out, ie Jonathan Cheng and Melinda Looi. If you have nothing to do this weekend, go down to KLCC and support our local fashion and designers.

for more information, log on to http://www.m-ifw.com/

Uniqlo: The Future of Tee

Uniqlo's Futuristic Storefront

If you are still buying a the of overpriced GAP/Banana Republic/Padini (yes Padini is definitely overpriced) shirt or T-Shirt, or whatsoever products, forget about it, you are so ripped off. Savesome of you money, visit Uniqlo in Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, China, UK, even US (fyi, its Flagship store is located in New York’s Soho which is near the famous Broadway and Fifth Avenue. Some of you may not know that Uniqlo is actually the biggest casual wear chain in Japan.

A t-shirt is never just a t-shirt when UNIQLO is involved. Uniqlo launched its UT Project approximately 6 months ago, and the man behind the project was Kashiwa Sato Creative Director of Uniqlo. The first UT store was opened in Harajuku with the aim of bringing more than 1,000 designs per year.

Their concept is quite cool, each t-shirt style will be displayed on forms in stainless steel display cases, with the individual t-shirts packaged in clear plastic canisters resembling tennis ball cans. The t-shirts will be stored on open shelves, making the shopping experience truly unique and virtually self-service. Customers can just walk into the store, browse and choose their favorite designs, retrieve it from the vending machine like shelf (Japanese really like vending machines) and pay for it at the cashiers. With more than 5,000 square feet of selling space spread out over three floors and a fourth floor gallery space, the UT store will in essence serve as a shrine to this fundamental and favorite article of clothing.

"Give me a can of Asahi Beer"

"My owner kicks me out of the house!"

In celebration of the opening of the UT store, UNIQLO has launched the UT Project, a limited-edition collection of t-shirts designed by renowned artists, designers, photographers and musicians including Terry Richardson, Nobuyoshi Araki, Kai Khüne, Bjorn Copeland of Black Dice, Kim Jones, Peter Saville, Gareth Pugh, Solve Sundsbo, ECM Records, and many more. Wow, that sounds expensive. Wrong, each T-shirt costs less than RM45.00, yes less than RM45.00. I bought a few several months back.

Some of Terry Richardson's designs and the punk belowis Terry Richardson

In fact all Uniqlo’s products are selling at really affordable price, yet they don’t give you shitty designs. Check out www.uniqlo.com and you know I’m not bullshitting you. I got a pinstriped jacket at the price of RM135 (Normal Price).

So, the government should include this in the Ninth Malaysia Plan: Bring Uniqlo in and s othat we don't get ripped off! Eh, maybe no la after that shirt all got bocor and got holes one...

Happy 50th Brithday!

Real/Fake CLOT X Edison

I actually admire Edison, not during his early days. Like this:

His hairstyle reminds me of Eason Chan:

I started liking him when he changed his style. Honestly he can’t really sing, but he’s a better rapper and he has a bunch of cool musician friends like MC Yan, Han Jin, DJ Tommy, etc.

Ok ok, I’m not writing about Edison, but “CLOT”, his baby, a “spokesperson” for Hong Kong and East Asia fashion scenes. Loads of collabo with other top brands such as Clot X Fragment, Clot X Visvim, Clot X Be@rbrick, Clot X Base Control, Clot X Pepsi, Clot X Levis, and this:

Clot X Chow Sing Chi!!

As Clot’s popularity grows, so does the number of bootlegs and fakes. If you log on to Ebay especially Ebay HK, you will be able to find some limited edition Clot. The sellers allow buyers to buy in bulk some more. “Kung geng”? Do they know what “Limited Edition” is? Like 500,000 pieces, limited edition.

Edison got to “tulan” so he came out with 2 new Clot T’s. They are, Real and Fake.

Fake:

Real:
Ironically, the “Real” one looks fake with some cracked prints, while the “Fake” tee looks super real with puffy prints and real Clot logo.

Perhaps, he should come out with real and fake Edison, with the emphasized expression around his lips:

Real:

Real:

Fake, definitely fake:

Er, but according to The Real and Fake T's, the Fake one looks more real right? ;p

Anyway, if you are in Hong Kong, get yourself some CLOT at 53, Paterson Street, 2F/A, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong

Toy Watch - The Rolex of Plastic Watch

It’s really really been awhile since my last blog entry. No worries, the other 3 fellas in the video didn’t kill me ;p

The reason is that I think I haven’t found the direction of my blog, yet. Well, I realize I can’t procrastinate no more, so I will make it a fashion and food blog, and other “chapalang” stuff. Well, what should I talk in my first re-angled blog entry? Hmmm, ok, let talk about this:

Sweet!

Yes, it’s a watch, it’s not a toy, it looks like a watch, and it’s a toy? I’m confused, it’s Toy Watch. a toy that have been worn by many Hollywood celebrities lately. Just to name a few:

Jessica Alba
Lindsay Lohan
Madonna
Oprah Winfrey
Michael Jordan
Paris Hilton
and even Al Gore likes the toy...

"The Incovenient Truth about Toy Watch is, you can't get it in Malaysia...I have ordered toywatchusa not to ship to Malaysia!"

The Rolex inspired cheap plastic/nylon watch starts as low as USD150 (~RM525). The higher end’s models would cost around USD300 (~RM1, 050). Like many other watch brands, it has limited edition watches which would cost around USD1, 200 to USD1, 500.

Its strategy is simple, high-style, low-cost.

The nearest places we can get the toy are Thailand, Hong Kong and Japan. How come Thailand has it but we don’t? Malaysia tak boleh already like that!!

Give me the watch if not I'll kick your ass!!

I don't care, I don't care, my next watch will definitely be the Toy Watch, Oversize series...and not this:

So, my dearest friend(s), remember, Toy Watch Oversize series, any color will do ;p

I know you guys are going to kill me, but so what?! hahaha...

Gwen Stefani changes the values of local Asian and Islam in Malaysia?!

Reuters reported that Gwen Stefani's upcoming Asian tour in KL should be called off due to her indecent dressing and obscenity, a Muslim students' group said on Tuesday. The 10,000-strong National Union of Malaysian Muslim Students said Stefani's August 21 concert, which is part of her 'Sweet Escape' tour, would clash with local Asian and Islamic values. "Her video clips promoting the event are too obscene," Mohamad Hilmi Ramli, the group's president, told Reuters. "We want the organisers to cancel the concert, failing which we will ask the authorities to intervene."

But hey, do you want the Gwen Stefani Sweet Escape Live ...

or you want to escape from him/her with sweat?

Personally, I am quite amazed that Gwen is so influential she can change the value of a religion with years of history within minutes or even seconds. If she does, I’m sure the respective advertising agency can bag themselves some awards, for instance Kancil Award, best advertisement etc, etc.

I believe the 10,000 students should do something more meaningful. For example,

- form lines to block “mat rempit” during their “rempit-ing” sessions…

- support our national football team for all their home games, they need that…

- concentrate on your studies…

- community works?

guys, more ideas please……

Gwen’s concert doesn’t stop us moving toward 2020, your primitive thinking does, get up to speed! Signing off with my Harajuku doll...
